No matter who or what I photograph - executives, actors, celebrities, families or events - I want the images to be truthful and powerful. I'm a documentarian at heart, so I like to capture a sliver of story in every photograph. I formally trained at Pomona College, the New York Institute of Photography and the School of Visual Arts, but experience has been my greatest educator: I've shot hundreds of thousands of photos in Manhattan and around the world, tramping through 26 countries and 7 continents, including Antarctica.
With over fifteen years of experience in lifestyle, editorial, food and product photography, founder and chief photographer Brett Deutsch and his team have worked with hundreds of businesses and charities in the tri-state area and across the country. We've shot a LOT of editorial and lifestyle photos, and I recently realized that despite the diversity of subject material, I'm always on the lookout for the same thing. Depending on what the client wants, I'll play around a little with angles and looks and lighting - but inevitably, the shoot REALLY gets going in earnest when I uncover the thread of a story.
I've traveled all over the world, much of it during a one-year trip with my (then brand new) wife Sherri. We tramped through 26 countries and 6 continents. A few years later, I added Antarctica to my list of journeys, after which several major newspapers in the U.S. and Canada published my articles and photos.

Deutsch Photography in New York City is by the best place to get headshots for your business or website. I had Brett Deutsch himself photograph me and the results were awesome. The Shift/co team is in awe. Typical corporate event photos are often rather boring, but Deutsch Photography was amazing - they really captured the attentiveness of the audience, the passion of the presenters and the spirit of the interactions between the two groups. I also loved their photos as we set up for the event, and at the end, Brett took a few extra minutes just to shoot some team portraits. I'll absolutely use Brett and Sherri again. Thank you!

Brett made our family photo session so easy and fun. Our almost 10-month old daughter was not in her best mood during the shoot but his camera captured her beautifully regardless. Unlike our wedding photos, it only took him a few days to setup online gallery so we were able to share the photos with family and friends right away. Not only photos but experience itself became such a wonderful memory as parents! Highly highly recommended!
