I'm Jim Herndon, and I've been a professional photographer working in a full-time capacity for over two decades. I started On Location Portraiture in 2000, after working for four years as an assistant to several local photographers from multiple areas of photographic expertise. My business started with a studio front in Garland from 2000 to 2007, and then I was based in Deep Ellum at the Hickory Street Annex from 2007 to 2010. I have worked purely 'on location' since 2010, traveling all over DFW and the country.
There are a few clients that I've been able to photograph on many occasions, but Catherine's mother and her family might be the ones I've photographed the most. Her mom was one of my first clients when I opened my studio in Garland, and since then I've photographed her high school senior, engagement, and bridal portraits, her wedding, and her family more times than I can count.
I have had a long association with the acting community in DFW, as my wife is an actress and theater musician. I photograph actor headshots at locations all over Dallas and Ft. Worth, and I try to draw out the personality of each person. Over 100 different photos are taken, with optional clothes changes, and the the client's favorite images are retouched for stray hairs and spots while retaining the natural and realistic look of the actor or actress.
