I believe that every Williamsburg wedding - whether at the Williamsburg Inn, Kingsmill Resort, Ford's Colony, Governor's Land at Two Rivers or at Colonial Heritage - is an entirely unique experience. You can share a kiss on the banks of the James River or enjoy a first dance in the Virginia Room of the Williamsburg Lodge, but the universal elements of a wedding day remain constant - the joy of seeing old friends, the laughter, the tears. As a professional event photographer, I love weaving all of these elements into a memorable tapestry - in an artistic, yet truthful way.
Paul Harrison Photography was established in 2006 as a contemporary alternative to predictable professional wedding photography in Richmond, VA, and in the surrounding areas. I take a two-way approach to photography - photojournalistic, where I blend into my surroundings to observe & capture and "tell the story of the day" through stunning images - and traditional, when I play a slightly larger role in creating the story by gently controlling the pose, background and other compositional elements.
Wedding clients are often surprised to learn that a photographer's job really just begins after the ceremony. In the old film days, photographers would often do little more than drop their film off at the lab and hope for the best. Digital photography has completely changed the rules of the game by giving photographers the ability to completely control all aspects of the creative process, thereby creating a style that's unmistakably their own - all through their skill at image enhancement.Image editing should be much more than just modifying light levels or making minor adjustments to color.
Paul Harrison Photography follows a thoughtful and personalized approach which provides a lifetime of photographic memories for clients throughout the southeastern Virginia area. For me, preparation begins long before the wedding as I learn your priorities, research locations, and determine how to best capture the event while being as unobtrusive as possible.

Paul is an amazing photographer with a real eye for the profession he's in. He has a great vision for the work that he does, but also sees things in the moment and will capture some awesome shots! He makes you feel comfortable and calm, and I felt like a model on my wedding day! Our engagement photos are absolutely beautiful and we got so many compliments from friends and family. I cannot wait to see the wedding pictures! Highly recommend!

Paul is a true visionary! He has countless ideas and does a great job using the environment around him to do a thorough shoot! He recently shot our wedding this past Saturday October 7th at Cary Hill plantation in Charles City, Va. We utilized all the space we could and I have no doubt the results will be fantastic as they were for our engagement shoot this past May!

He spent a lot of time with us in order to make sure he got every shot he needed and the entire process super easy for us. Most people don't enjoy photo shoots but we had a blast at the engagement shoot, our dinner the night before our wedding, and the day of! He is also very cultured and a great person to talk to about history and life in general!

If you can get a shoot at Jamestown Island with I suggest you take advantage! It was incredible! He was very professional, thorough, and accommodating and I would absolutely hire him again! Thanks Paul! Love, Danny and Meg
