Penny Souza

My name is Penny Souza and I am a Wedding and Portrait Photographer. (That is me featured in the photo above.) I was born and raised in beautiful Newport, RI. While still in High School I worked on the Newport Naval Base for 11 years. I then moved throughout the country to experience what life was all about off the “Island.” I soon discovered that there is no place like home. In 2010 I moved back to Rhode Island and I am happy to be home! I started by my business in 2004 in the Berkshires (Western Massachusetts) where I have taken at least 300,000 photos or more. I started a home-based studio and in 2007 rented studio space in Pittsfield, MA. In February 2010 I decided to relocate back to Rhode Island and run a home-based studio.

Photography has always been my passion since I was a toddler. Since I was old enough to comprehend what a camera was, I haven’t put one down. My Grandfather was a photographer for The Newport Daily News. I now know where my interest and talents come from. With the exception of a few photography classes, most of what I have learned has been self-taught as well as through networking with other professionals. I never stop learning and always strive to have the latest camera equipment and Photoshop tools available. I continue to educate myself through instructional DVDs, print competitions, and the available networking via my professional organizations. I worked very hard for my business and love every second. My energy, passion and drive has kept it going! Grasping the concepts of exposure and shutter speed can be learned by many, but having the passion and the eye for what you do is the key! I have been told that I have the “artist eye."
