Steve Rouch is anything but your average St. Paul/Minneapolis photographer. Steve is a Master Photographer with almost 50 years of experience! Each portrait is treated with care and creativity not found with other photographers. Your portrait session is carefully crafted to offer one of a kind unique photography in the Twin Cities area.
We do all sorts of portraits! Individual portraits for business or glamour, maternity, families, babies, children, high school seniors, even pets! Scroll down for a slideshow. Steve made us feel very at home in his studio. He asked us questions trying to find out "who we are" so that he could tailor the session to our needs.
We have been going to Steve Rouch for almost 18 years now! He has photographed our children as babies, and now is taking their senior photos! We have always been grateful for Steve's artistic eye and the gorgeous photos we get as a result. His photography graces the walls of our home and we love it.
In October, the 11th, 12th and 13th, we will be at the Lowertown Art Crawl in the Master Framers, Inc. studio at 262 E. 4th St., St Paul, MN. The Art Crawl is lots of fun and a great way to see tons of art and to support local artists. Check out www.fineartbystevie.com to see some of Steve's other fine art images he has taken over the years.

Steve was wonderful! We had a great time during our session and really loved that he helped show the kids true selves through the photos!

I bought a groupon for a 3 hour sitting, one 11x14 print, one 8x10 print, and $100 print credit. We got about 1/2 sitting when we were "done" taking pictures. We weren't even in his studio/house for 2 hours. I was pressured into spending $100 to purchase a DVD of all the pictures taken in our session. The photos are horrible. I did get my money back when I said how unhappy I was.

I did not ask for any of the prints that came with the groupon, there were no pictures I'd want hanging on my wall. I would not recommend Steve Rouch. The groupon was misleading and the photos were bad.

It took awhile to get an appointment with them. They have odd business hours so it is hard to get them at a time where they will answer the phone. Most of the time you will leave a message and they will call you back. I did have to cancel a photo shoot with them because something had come up and it was just a terrible day. We did eventually get in contact and was able to get a new appointment scheduled. I am sure my review will get better once the photo shoot is completed and done with, but this is my experience so far with the family owned company.

I have not only had the horrible experience of working with him, but know many friends who have (unfortunately) hired him as well. Then I started researching him and his "mn best photographer" award and found most of his bragging statements to be false or exaggerated beyond words. After all the first hand accounts I've heard of how he treats clients, I've definitely looked up other reviews on him.

All of the 4 and 5 stars start to sound an awful lot alike, like the same couple people are writing them. It seems like once he gets a bad review on a site he then gets his staff and friends to spam a bunch of good reviews. The guy is smarmy. Definitely research him before hiring. Heck, just go through all the unrecommended reviews made here on Yelp.if yelp allowed all of those, this business would be at 2 stars.

For being a "master photographer" I was not impressed! We went to the studio for a sitting. First, I was told sittings were 3 hours, well after about 65 mins he said we had all we needed. Second, he had none of his own ideas for photos, the only poses we used we the examples we brought in ourselves. Third, after looking at the pictures, there were simple details that he should have noticed and fixed (hair flying up, shirt un-tucked, bows un-tied, crooked props etc.) and the background of some of the photos was horrible (you could see other photo equipment, draping was off, etc).

The fourth and biggest issue was how he tried to sell the pictures to us after he took them, he went on and on about how expensive his rent is, how he needs to pay his employees, how much his electricity bills are and on and on, SO UN-PROFESSIONAL! My husband and I could not believe it! And on top of that his prices are DOUBLE and TRIPLE what other studios charge! I wish we would have went somewhere else!

Steve was fantastic. I had some problems with the receptionist over the phone, but once I got to the studio, everything was great. He's very laid back and open to just going with things as they happen. Which was very nice for me since a lot had changed from when I made my appointment to when I showed up. I ended up bringing my dog (they are very pet friendly) and they immediately offered to let her have run of the studio so she could meet everybody and get all the smelling out of the way while we talked. Steve talked to me for awhile, not just about the upcoming session, but about who I was as a person, which I think helped him capture some really great portraits because he understood who I was better and what I would therefore like in a portrait.

I am between jobs, which we talked about when it came to budget, and he gave me a really great deal so that I was able to get the photos I wanted without feeling guilty for spending too much money. He spent 2+hours working with me, and I was very happy with the quality of the photos and the general attitude in the studio. The studio itself is rather small, and I think looking at his other work and after getting to know him a bit, that where he really shines is in his work outside or at different locations.

I will certainly use him again as a photographer and am looking forward to when the weather gets nicer and I can book him for an outdoor shoot. But again, I absolutely love the shots he got in his studio, and he made the whole experience just so easy and fun.

I won an engagement sitting at a bridal fair in 2008. Steve was a nice guy he took time to get to know us and was nice and attentive it was a 2+ hour session and we got over 100 pictures from it. Of course the rights to the pictures were not included for those it was a flat rate of $500 which my fiancee and I were a bit surprised at. We ended up doing that as apposed to picking a few pictures to get professionally developed through their developer at around $100 a picture for what we wanted.

I really liked most of the pictures I wish there was a little bit of feedback on thinks like fixing my hair that was falling into my face or my ring was not laying straight on my finger but overall it was good. I did notice that all of the pictures had me in the front and/or staring adoringly at my fiancee. How come there were no pictures of him staring at me, me standing behind/over him or most importantly him with his arms around me? Steve Rouch's style is very classical, I was told multiple times to get matching outfits in dark colors with long sleves.

They all look really nice but most people I talk to preferred the pictures of us in the brighter outfits and not the all black ones. I admit the all black ones are timeless and look nice but my personal preference is towards more color and fun than that. Overall it was a great experience that we have been happy with. There were many of the pictures that we just love and they made excellent Christmas presents. What we got was mostly worth the price we paid.
