In 1969, at age fourteen, Bob Altizer started taking pictures as a hobby. Discouraged as a student to enter this profession because of the financial income, he sacrificed his dream and put on a suit and tie in order to safely supply for his family. However, he continued to photograph for industrial and commercial firms. It was on one of these shoots that he fell from a ladder saving the camera!

When I shoot photos at places like Grand Canyon or Paris, i am quite aware that bazillions of professional and amateur photographers have preceded me. I've never seen Vince Laforet or Joe McNally shooting pictures in my back yard.
